Ugu clears up ‘complex’ confusion

All consumers that have a quota in excess of one kilolitre per day must have on site storage for a 24-hour period.

CONFUSION has arisen over the issue of complexes having to install a supply of water for 24 hours in case of an emergency.

In response, France Zama, spokesman for Ugu District Municipality, said that municipal by-laws have always reflected that all consumers who have a quota in excess of one kilolitre per day must have on site storage for a 24-hour period.

“This is reflective of all multi-unit developments and businesses,” he added.

Mr Zama said the municipality encourages consumers with these establishments to comply to these by-laws as this assists in case of emergencies.

“It is our highly held view, as the municipality, that water is life and, as a caring water services authority, we shall continue to provide our communities with water,” he said.
