Burry Stander trial: taxi driver’s appeal revoked

TAXI driver, Njabulo Nyawose, who was found guilty of killing mountain bike ace, Burry Stander, was last Tuesday denied leave to appeal his three-year sentence.
Magistrate Charmaine Barnard said she had decided not to grant the application after careful consideration of all the facts and evidence brought before the court.
The only option left for Nyawose is to now petition the judge at the Pietermaritzburg High Court.
Nyawose’s attorney Xolile Ntshulana could not be contacted to establish if his client explore this option.
Stander (25) died on January 3, 2013, when he was struck by Nyawose’s taxi while cycling in Shelly Beach.
