Uvongo paedophile sentenced

He was declared unfit to possess a firearm, and will have his name recorded on the sexual offenders list.

THE Uvongo resident (39) who pleaded guilty to the sexual assault of a five year old child and the creation and possession of child pornography was sentenced earlier today.

His name is being withheld to protect the the identity of the child.

He appeared before Magistrate Johann Bester in the Port Shepstone Regional Magistrate’s court, where the following sentence was handed down:

* Sexual assault of five year old child (count one). Twelve years’ imprisonment, six years suspended for a period of five years;

* Creation of child pornography: Sentenced to four years’ imprisonment, to run concurrently with count one.

*Possession of child pornography: Sentenced to two years’ imprisonment, to run concurrently with count one.

He was declared unfit to possess a firearm, and will have his name recorded on the sexual offenders list.

The case was investigated by the FCS provincial head office in Gauteng.
