SEEMINGLY highly trained, dangerous and in-and-out before you know it, six burglars arrived at the Scottburgh Mall at around 3.20am last Friday morning and broke into the MTN and CNA shops.
“They drove their vehicle – a white VW Polo – into the foyer between the two shops,” said Scottburgh SAPS communications officer Captain Vincent Pandarum.
The burglars proceeded to take a television screen as well as seven laptops from CNA. Although entry was gained at MTN, the robbers could not open the safe where all the stock was stored.
As usual, many people took to social media to voice their concerns, one questioning where the mall guards were at the time.
Manageress Lorraine Scheepers confirmed that guards were on-duty, but took cover as the suspects were armed. They contacted the SAPS as well as a local security company, but the gang was in and out within minutes.
Both cases are being investigated by detective constable Cliffy Pillay of the Scottburgh Cluster Detective Task Team.
