Security guard shot in Margate

Two separate shooting incidents took place in Margate last night.

A SECURITY guard was shot in the thigh in an attempted robbery at a store at the Emoyeni taxi rank in Margate yesterday.

Three armed men entered the store at about 6pm and shot the security guard Siboniso Nicholas Ndovela (30).

The men fled without taking anything from the store. The security guard was taken to hospital for treatment.

In another similar incident two men entered  a tavern in Lamont near Margate at about 8.30pm on Tuesday night. One of the men had a firearm and demanded the safe keys.

“All customers were forced to lie on the floor,” said police spokesman, Captain Gerald Mfeka. A shot was fired when the men left the tavern. Noting was taken from the tavern or its patrons and no one was injured.
