Port Shepstone man caught with R7-million at Durban airport
He failed to declare the money to customs officers.
HUSAIN Farouk Motala, (37), of Port Shepstone, was arrested recently at King Shaka International Airport, allegedly with more than R7-million cash in his luggage.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesman, Thulani Zwane, said Mr Motala has already appeared before the Verulam Magistrate’s Court and had been released on R60 000 bail. He is also barred from leaving the country.
Mr Motala was on his way to Dubai when he was apprehended by police following a tip-off that he was in possession of the huge sum of money.
He had failed to disclose the money to customs officers at the airport.
The case has been postponed to May 20 for further investigation.
