JOKO Bennideen has been identified as the elderly Umkomaas resident found lying in a pool of her blood on the kitchen floor at her Umkomaas house on May 18 by her daughter and son-in-law.
She had sustained serious injuries to her face and head, including a fractured skull. She was rushed to St Augustine’s Hospital in Durban for urgent medical care, where she is currently still in a coma.

DETECTIVE warrant officer Mduduzi Ndlovu is appealing to the public for anyone with information on the attack.
The woman was found lying in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor by her daughter.
The victim had been severely beaten and was unable to talk, – Captain Vincent Pandarum.
The elderly woman had suffered serious injuries to her face and head. She was rushed to a hospital in Amanzimtoti for urgent medical care.
The house had been ransacked and it is yet to be established what exactly had been stolen.
Charges of house robbery and attempted murder are being investigated

AN elderly woman was seriously injured when she was attacked and robbed at her home in Umkomaas yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon.
Reports from the scene indicate that the woman (77) was assaulted with a hoe – a long-handled gardening tool with a thin metal blade, mainly used for weeding.
Netcare911 paramedics managed to stabilise the woman at the scene before taking her to hospital.
