Wife killer behind bars
The former Hibiscus Coast Municipality employee was found guilty of murder.
FORMER Hibiscus Coast traffic officer Thokozani Malloy, who was found guilty of murdering his wife by the Port Shepstone Regional Court on Thursday,was certainly not happy with the Herald photographer when she took his photograph. He actually gave her the middle finger.
Malloy (41), from KwaNzimakwe near Port Edward, sentenced by Port Shepstone regional court magistrate Johann Bester to 12 years in jail for the murder of his wife, Nontokozo.
He shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself in December 2014, hours before his wife’s birthday.
He was jealous because he believed that his wife was having an extra-marital affair, – distraught family member.
He was also given a two-year sentence for intimidating his eldest son, now aged 21, who was a primary witness to the murder.
Magistrate Bester said the sentence was fitting for his crime, based on his age and the fact that he was a first time offender.
“The fact is that he has suffered anxiety and grief, even if it was self-inflicted. He had been in custody since he was re-arrested for intimidating his son.”
Both Nontokozo’s and Malloy’s family said that he had not shown any remorse.
