DA Ugu North constituency announces new candidates

'Fit for purpose' candidates have gone through a vigorous selection process so as to ensure they are all up to the task and ready to serve the interests of their communities.

IT’S ready, set, go for the Democratic Alliance Ugu North Constituency following the announcement at the Town Hall in Scottburgh on Friday, June 3 of its candidate list ahead of the 2016 local government elections.

Constituency leader Mark Steele and Councillor Eddie Baptie proudly announced its ward and proportional representation candidates who will be standing for the elections on August 3.

The candidates for the Umdoni and Umzumbe Municipal Councils pledged to serve their citizens to the best of their ability, with openness and empathy and a committed themselves to building unity and respect amongst their communities.

“Look for the blue wave,” said Councillor Baptie, adding that the ‘fit for purpose’ candidates have gone through a vigorous selection process so as to ensure they are all up to the task and ready to serve the interests of their communities.

During the announcement of the candidates, various service delivery issues were highlighted including the undignified shack dwellings, which the DA promised to bring to an end.

He added that budgets would be adopted that prioritise the maintenance of public infrastructure as well as provide minimum services in all areas.
