Stolen vehicle, tools recovered after chase
The suspects escaped after crashing the vehicle.
A HIGH speed police chase resulted in the recovery of stolen tools.
Sergeant Rudi Smith and Constable SP Mpisane from Port Shepstone 10111 response unit were on duty when they saw a suspicious vehicle in the Hibberdene area last Sunday night.
They tried to stop the vehicle, a VW Fox, but the driver sped off.
“Upon checking the registration number of the vehicle, Sgt Smith established that the car had been reported stolen in the Umtentweni area on Friday night,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
The officers gave chase.
“The vehicle left the main road at Hibberdene and disappeared into the bush near the beach. The officers found that the vehicle had crashed and occupants had fled,” she added.
The officers found various tools including an angle grinder, a drill, an electric saw and other equipment inside the car.
“Investigations are being conducted to establish who the lawful owner of the tools is.”
