Sting busts drug dealers
The community is urged to forward information about the abuse of drugs to the police.
POLICE have clamped down on drug abuse and arrested four men in Shelly Beach on Monday this week.
Officers from the Drug Task Team in the Ugu policing cluster, under the command of Detective Warrant Officer Herman Pienaar, conducted an undercover operation and managed to arrest the men.
“They were assisted by officers from crime intelligence unit,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
105 capsules of heroin with a street value of R4 200 were found in their possession.
They were charged under the drug trafficking act and appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
One of the accused (30), was released on R1 000 bail. The other three accused, aged 24, 24 and 29 are still in custody and will appear in court on June 23 for a formal bail application.
