Robbers target beachgoers

In one case a woman was stabbed with a bottle.

FOLLOWING two recent robberies, you are warned to be extra vigilant when visiting the beach.

An attempted robbery at St Michael’s beach last Friday morning left a 23-year-old woman injured.

Then, on the same day, a robbery took place at Pumula beach at about 11am.

Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said a 32-year-old woman was with her sons and a friend at the beach, when she saw a man hitting her friend with a plank.

A second man threatened her with a knife.

“One of the men then grabbed her handbag, which contained personal items, and fled.”
