Admin team tracks down thief
These men deserve a medal for going beyond the call of duty.
EVEN SAPS administrative staff are now joining in to help fight crime with two clerks tracking down a knife-wielding thief last Friday.
Sherwyn Pillay and Danesh Naicker were driving in Marburg when they saw a woman frantically signalling them to stop
She informed them that she had been waiting for a taxi to Murchison when she was approached by two men.
One drew a knife and demanded money and a cellphone.
She gave Pillay and Naicker a description of the men and they searched the area. Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said they soon spotted one of the suspects and gave chase.
“He was arrested and still had the cellphone and money in his possession.”
The 33-year-old man was charged and appeared in Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on Monday this week.
