Techno hub is first in KZN

The facility will provide services to members of the community.

PORT Shepstone is the first area in the province to receive a techno hub. This was revealed during an official launch held recently at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre.

KZN provincial treasury, together with Hibiscus Coast Municipality, introduced the science and technology park to various stakeholders and community members.

Treasury head, Simiso Magagula, said the techno hub will add a new dimension to the area’s traditional rural economy by providing a collaborative space for business and young entrepreneurs.

This is an ideal location for a sports academy. Training, research and development will be housed in the innovation cluster and the hub will also be established to provide services to members of the community, – Simiso Magagula

Hibiscus Coast mayor, Councillor Cynthia Mqwebu said: “A company called ‘Got Game’, which seeks to tackle challenges around education, health services and enterprise development in sub-Saharan Africa, has also signed up to be part of the techno hub project.

“This company designs, manufactures and delivers customised cubes, known as ‘pop ups’, in the form of digital hubs, restaurants, clinics, gyms and a variety of other interesting spaces.”
