Woman raped, stabbed in neck
After he raped her he stabbed her, leaving her to die.
SIYABONGA Sikhwenke, (24), who took his victim by knife-point, raped and stabbed her, was handed a life sentence for murder and 10 years’ imprisonment for rape in the Scottburgh Regional Court last Wednesday.
He pleaded guilty to the rape and murder of the woman.
In his plea, Sikhwenke told the court that he was heading home from work when he saw the woman.
He took her by knife-point to a nearby bush, raped her and then stabbed her in her neck and left. The woman died at the scene.
In aggravation of sentence, prosecutor Sibusiso Mhlongo told the court that Skihhwenke only pleaded guilty because of the overwhelming DNA evidence against him.
