Hibberdene robber jailed for 15 years

The woman awoke to find a stranger in her room.

MONDLI Ngidi (24) of Mfazazana, near Hibberdene appeared in the Scottburgh Regional Court last Wednesday where he was convicted of house robbery and sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment.

A second accused was acquitted.

The charges stem from an incident which took place on June 23 last year.

A 32-year-old woman living in Marianne Road, Hibberdene was asleep when she was disturbed by a noise in the early hours of the morning.

She awoke to find a stranger in her room.

A second suspect emerged from the ceiling and the two helped themselves to handbags, a TV, laptop, two cellphones, jewellery, cosmetics and a hairdryer.

The case was investigated by Detective Sergeant Thokozisi Innocent Gumede of the Hibberdene SAPS Detective Service.
