Pretty face comes at great cost
Shockingly, the woman had been charged R5 483.60 for two tubs of face cream.
CHARLIZE Theron, Kate Middleton and Jane Fonda – what do they all have in common? Great skin for sure, there is simply no two ways about it.
Well, the trio has apparently made their ‘beauty products’ available online, but we would advise you not to buy them, unless you are sure it is the real deal.
Two Scottburgh women were recently scammed out of more than R5 000 each, despite being promised that all they had to pay was a shipping fee of R107.
The women clicked on a Facebook advert which promised youthful skin, apparently proudly endorsed by the famous trio.
Needless to say, just over two weeks later, one of the women went to the Scottburgh Post Office to collect her ‘free’ sample and happily started using the product.
A few weeks later she got a notification that another parcel had arrived. Growing concerned, she followed up with her bank.
Shockingly, she discovered that she had been charged R5 483.60 for the two tubs of face cream.
Even more disturbing was that she never agreed to having a second ‘sample’ sent to her.
The woman immediately contacted the help line and, after being transferred a few times, was told that she should have read the terms and conditions. However, when she visited website, she could not find any terms and conditions.
She was then redirected to an official website and advised that, if the product was not returned within 14 days, a refund would not be possible.
Adding insult to injury, she only received the product a few days after the stipulated cut-off date. Fortunately, the consultant she spoke with made an exception and the woman returned the product.
When the woman went to the post office to return the product, staff informed her that she was the fifth person to be scammed.
The woman warns others not to fall victim to such scams and to rather first verify the authenticity as well as payment methods beforehand placing orders.
