Feisty victim bites back
Despite having had a knife thrown at them while they were fleeing, the brazen criminals later returned.
PENNINGTON residents have to barricade their homes against criminals who target the area, in spite of upped patrols by police and security companies.
At least in this latest home invasion, one victim tried to bite back.
A Robert Road, resident was held up at gunpoint by three robbers around 11.45am on Tuesday last week.
“While one stood guard over him, the other two went upstairs and stole two flat screen TV sets and a laptop,” said Scottburgh SAPS communications officer, Captain Vincent Pandarum.
As if things weren’t bad enough already, the owner of the property’s wife then arrived home.
When she entered the house, one of the robbers pointed a gun at her. Another held her from behind, demanding that she hand over her car keys and gold necklace.
The feisty woman bit down hard on her captor’s hand and the gang fled with their haul.
“It was later established that a large amount of money, an ID book, passport and a cellphone were also taken,” said Captain Pandarum.

Some time during the night or early hours of the following morning, the woman’s vehicle was stolen from the property.
A case of house robbery as well as theft of a motor vehicle have been registered for investigation by the Scottburgh SAPS.
