Join the war on waste by recycling

Thanks to Ray Nkonyeni Municipality communities can now do their bit to recycle their waste. Reduce, re-use, recycle and rethink!

THE two bag recycling system system is VERY simple.

You can recycle glass, plastic, tins and paper by putting it all together in one clear bag.

BLACK BAGS – are for domestic waste.

CLEAR BAGS – are for recyclable waste (glass, plastic, tins and paper) and can be collected at the following places between 7.30am and 4pm:

  • Hibberdene at Hibberdene municipal offices.
  • Umzumbe and Pumula at Cedric Gerber’s house.
  • Sunwich Port and Sea Park at Southport library.
  • Southbroom, Marina Beach and Trafalgar at Southbroom municipal offices.

Recycling drop-off centres:

Please note material accepted are paper, glass, bottles, cans, cardboard, milk cartoons and 2L bottles.

  • Hibberdene Drop-off Centre – near Fifis.
  • Southport Drop-off Centre – behind clinic.
  • Umtentweni Drop-off Centre – Commercial Road.
  • Shelly Beach Drop-off Centre – Marine Drive.
  • Ravine Lane Recycling Facility – Mbango.
  • Margate Drop-off Centre – Margate depot 3, bins located inside the depot.
  • Southbroom Drop-off centre – located at Southbroom transfer station.

The Two-Bag Recycling Project and Recycling Drop-Off Centres are to be extended to other  areas in the near future.
