Murder among friends over cellphone

The man was brutally assaulted with a hammer and nails.

A MAN from Izingolweni died after his friends struck him with a hammer, stabbed him with nails and dragged him out of the house at Ntaba Ward earlier this year.

The victim, Zakhele Xolo (27) was drinking with friends, Michael Zipopo Ntobela (43) and Bheki Maxwell Nzimande (42) on January 30 when one of their cellphones went missing. The cellphone was found beneath the bed close to Xolo.

The other two assaulted him, dragged him from the house and left him on the roadside.

Ntobela and Nzimande were arrested the same day and charged with Xolo’s murder.

Both appeared in the Izingolweni Regional Court  last week and were convicted of murder.

They were sentenced to life imprisonment.
