Beachfront assault accused appear in court

The two accused face charges of robbery, malicious damage to property and assault.

ACCUSED of having stolen a cell phone and money, a man and his friend were recently assaulted at the Scottburgh Main Beach parking lot.

The victim and his two friends had parked their vehicle when they were met by two men who accused them of the theft.

Their vehicle was kicked and damaged – a tyre was punctured with a knife.

The victim’s phone was also taken.

“Jesmond Dreyer (21) and Donovan Engelbrecht (18) appeared in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court on Monday, September 12, on charges of robbery, malicious injury to property and assault,” said Scottburgh SAPS communications officer Captain Vincent Pandarum.

They were each released on R1000 bail and are due to appear in court again on October 5.

The case is being investigated by Detective Constable Dillon Khamisa of the Scottburgh SAPS Detective Service.
