LAZER 911 Security guards arrested a man for allegedly stealing money from a church in Marburg while the service was in progress.
At about 10am, while churchgoers were inside, a man came into the church and grabbed a purse containing cash from a woman before fleeing.
“He was chased by members of the congregation as well as officers from the security company,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
He was arrested and the purse and cash recovered. The man was charged with theft and appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrates’ Court last week. The case was postponed to October 18.
