Construction progresses at Merlewood Primary
The new gr R classrooms, as well as upgrades to the school hall, should be completed by the end of 2016.
GREAT excitement prevailed at Merlewood Primary as the foundation for the first phase, consisting of five gr R classrooms, was completed. Oldest Merlewood resident, granny Johanna Godden, was invited to lay the first brick of the new structure.
Granny Godden turned 100 on October 6.
Grades R to 6 have taken up residence in the new mobile classrooms and the majority of the old prefabricated classrooms were demolished during the recent school holidays.
The new gr R classrooms, as well as upgrades to the school hall, should be completed by the end of 2016.
