Shelly Beach NSRI rewarded for excellence

Station 20 performs a sterling service.

THE National Sea Rescue Institute’s Shelly Beach Station 20 recently received the prestigious ‘station excellence award’.

Eddie Noyons, chairman of the operations board, said they received the award with ‘great pride’.

“The station was honoured for its outstanding stewardship of the rescue base, displaying excellence, pride, good governance and upholding the brand image of the institution, ” he explained.

The base’s station commander, Jeremiah Jackson, received an award for his dedicated service to sea rescue and the community for 15 years.

The award read that without volunteers such as Mr Jackson, the NSRI would not be able to help those in distress at sea.

The wording on the certificate thanked Mr Jackson for his brave and selfless contribution.

Mr Jackson (31) said he was proud to receive this acknowledgement as he had dedicated half his life to the NSRI, having joined the organisation in 2001, aged just 15.
