Computer thieves caught

The quick thinking of a pawn shop owner proved critical.

TWO men, arrested in connection with the theft of computer equipment, appeared in the Amanzimtoti Magistrate’s Court last Friday.

Sifiso Mbambo (24) and Njabulo Ndlovu (31) faced charges of unlawful possession of suspected stolen property.

“They were arrested when they apparently attempted to pawn computer equipment at a pawn shop in Warner Beach,” said Scottburgh SAPS communications officer, Captain Vincent Pandarum.

The owner of the pawn shop alerted local authorities, suspecting that the property had been stolen.

Two computers, each valued at R12 000, were seized as exhibits. They are believed to have been stolen during a burglary at Umkomaas Library on the night of October 19.

The case docket has been transferred to the Amanzimtoti SAPS Detective Service for further investigation.
