Elderly woman robbed at home
The men ransacked the house and fled with the woman's money and pension card.
ST FAITH’S police wasted no time in arresting three suspects who threatened and robbed a 74-year-old woman in Nkwazi near St Faith’s last Sunday.
The elderly woman was asleep when she was woken by a bang on the door.
Two men broke down the door, entered the home and demanded money, said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
“They ransacked the rondavel and took a plastic bag containing money, two ID books, a SASSA card and two cellphones before fleeing,” she added.
The branch commander of Detective Services in St Faith’s, Sergeant Cherrol Khumalo, together with Sgt Mandla Memela, Sgt Cosmos Myeza, Constable Ishmael Ndwalane and senior admin clerk (SAC) Bright Memela set to work and, within a short while, had traced three suspects, aged 18, 19 and 22 respectively.
The men were found in possession of the stolen property and were arrested.
They appeared in court on Monday this week and the case was postponed for a bail application.
