Murder accused in court

As soon as the accused fled the scene, the women contacted the Dududu SAPS.

MLONDI Cele was brutally murdered by two men, apparently over the alleged theft of a T-shirt and cellphone, while in the company of two women, who were subsequently robbed of their cellphones.

As soon as the accused fled the scene, the women contacted the Dududu SAPS.

Cele was stabbed multiple times in the chest and abdomen.

“Sergeants Thokozane Mchunu and Gugulethu Cordelia Sindane of the Dududu SAPS Detective Service immediately commenced with investigations and, within hours, tracked down the two suspects to a local tavern,” said Scottburgh SAPS communications officer, Captain Vincent Pandarum.

“What are believed to be the murder weapons were seized as exhibits.” Further investigations led to the one of the cellphones being recovered, as well as the bloodied clothes which the perpetrators had disposed of.

Facing charges of murder and robbery, Mlindelwa Khati (18) and Kwenzakwakhe Derick Tshozi (21) appeared in the Vulamehlo Magistrate’s Court on October 31.

They were remanded back into police custody until their next court appearance

The Deputy Ugu Cluster Commander, Brigadier Bongani Sibiya, commended Sergeants Mchunu and Sindane for the swift arrest of the alleged perpetrators.

“Members of the community are advised to report any offences committed against them to the police so that the perpetrators may be arrested and prosecuted. They should not take the law into their own hands and seek revenge.”
