Is the ‘supermoon’ real?

Yes, and if you miss the phenomenon this time round, you will have to wait until 2034 for another chance to see it.

THE November full moon will be a special ‘supermoon’, the biggest and brightest full moon in about 70 years.

And the best place to watch it rise over the South Coast will be at Ramsgate Conservancy‘s Moondecker evening at Ramsgate Whale Deck and eco-centre on the night of the full moon, November 14, from 5pm.

On this day the moon will be the closest to the earth since 1948 and will appear 14 percent bigger and about 30 percent brighter than normal. If you miss the supermoon this time round you will have to wait until 2034 for another chance to see it.

Everyone is invited to this and all the other moondecker evenings, held every month to celebrate the rising of the full moon.

Bring along your own liquid refreshments and a comfy chair. Some tables and chairs are provided.

A light supper of chicken a la king will be available for R30 per person. There will also be a lucky draw.

All proceeds go to the Ramsgate Conservancy funds.

For catering purposes, if you wish to attend, please contact the conservancy at info@ramsgatecommunity.co.za, giving numbers of people who will be in your party, before November 12.
