Identity crisis for municipality?

The holdup can apparently be chalked up to a spelling error.

QUESTIONS are being asked about the logo (or rather lack thereof) for the new Ray Nkonyeni Municipality.

Most signs still greet visitors with a warm ‘Welcome to Hibiscus Coast Municipality’, even though the name changed after the elections in August.

A source within the municipality claims the logo has been put on hold, following a request from the struggle hero’s widow Peggy, who asked that the spelling of her late husband’s name to be corrected from ‘Ray’ to ‘Rey’.

“The decision to change the name was made prematurely. I doubt those involved considered financial implications. Where is all this money going to come from?” asked the source.

According to municipal spokesman, Simon April, no changes have been made to any signage or branding as yet.

He said this is due to delays in the finalisation of the colours and logo.

“We are hopeful that this will be finalised before the end of this month and thereafter the process of changing all signage will start.”

He added that it was unfortunate that the process was taking much longer than had been expected.
