Lucky twist to house robbery

The robbers had kept a watchful eye on the house before breaking in.

TWO alert policemen, Warrant Officers Patrick Gosling and Johan Zandberg, not only recovered property stolen from a home in Oslo Beach, but also arrested the culprits.

The officers were driving in the Port Shepstone CBD when they saw two men pushing a trolley loaded with goods, including a 32-inch TV, a remote, cables and six speakers, for which the men could not produce proof of ownership.

Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said W/O Gosling, with the assistance of the Department of Home Affairs, traced the belongings to the rightful owner, who was en route to Harding.

It was later established that the robbers had watched his home and, as soon as he left that morning, had broken into his house.

They were both charged with housebreaking and possession of stolen property. They appeared in court and remain in custody.
