UPDATE: Panga used in Trafalgar attack

Margate police are investigating a case of aggravated assault.

UPDATE: 

THE woman (68) was attacked while walking towards Mpenjati lagoon last Friday.

Three men, aged between the ages of 18 and 24, came straight at the woman, slashing at her with a panga and demanding money.

When she dropped her cellphone, the men grabbed it and fled.

Police spokesman, Captain Gerald Mfeka, said that during the struggle the woman was injured on the upper arm and finger.

“Margate detectives are investigating a case of aggravated robbery,” he said.

 

ORIGINAL STORY – December 2

ACCORDING to reports, an elderly woman was stabbed and robbed of her cellphone in Trafalgar earlier today (Friday).

This follows the murder of another pensioner in Munster last Friday.

The injured pensioner was taken to hospital in Margate.

No further information is available at this stage.

Official conformation and a statement are awaited from police.
