A STREET chase by police on Wednesday afternoon left a man (25) behind bars.
Public Order Policing members on patrol received information regarding a man suspected to be dealing drugs in Port Shepstone.
The police spotted the man from the description given, but he fled when officers approached. However, they gave chase and managed to arrest him in Robertson Street.
“He had 20 capsules of heroin worth an estimated R800 when we arrested him,”said the police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
“This time of the year drug dealers are very active and target young potential customers and teenagers who are out on the streets,” she added.
Parents are once again urged to be aware at all times where their children are, and to be on the lookout for people acting in a suspicious manner and to report them to the South African Police Services at 10111.
