THREE teenagers from the former Transkei were stabbed in Port Edward last Friday.
John Nicholas, NSRI Port Edward station commander, said that, while on stand-by at Port Edward main beach, the NSRI Port Edward duty crew was requested to assist the police who were dealing with reports of multiple stabbing incidents in town.
NSRI medics responded and three people, in their late teens, were treated for stab wounds in three separate incidents.
“One suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest, one suffered stab wounds and blunt trauma injuries to the head and torso and one suffered stab wounds to his lungs,” said Mr Nicholas.
He explained that they split up the NSRI medical crew and equipment to tend to the three different incidents in town.
Earlier that day, NSRI Shelly Beach duty crew dispatched its sea rescue craft Spirit of Dawn, accompanied by a boat mechanic, to assist the Trio, off Shelly Beach, suffering motor failure.
Jeremiah Jackson, NSRI Shelly Beach station commander, said that on arrival at the scene the mechanic assisted in fixing the motors and the boat beached at the Shelly Beach slipway, escorted by the sea rescue craft, without incident and no further assistance was required.
