Trying to start the new year on a ‘high’
Parcels of dagga were wrapped in plastic and hidden in the stew.
A WOMAN was arrested when she tried to smuggle drug-laced food to a prisoner at Port Shepstone police station on New Year’s Day.
The woman (20) brought the food to a 30-year-old man who was in custody after being caught in possesion of dagga a few days earlier.
“The woman asked to hand over a container and a plastic bag containing food to the prisoner,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
Sergeant Zama Sikhakhana, who was on duty at the time, became suspicious and searched the stew in the plastic container.
“She found three small parcels of dagga, wrapped in plastic, hidden in the stew. When she checked the plastic bag containing the biscuits, she discovered that the biscuits were laced with dagga leaves,” said Lt-Col Wiid.
The woman was arrested and detained.
