Large quantity of dagga seized
The street value of the dagga seized at Port Shepstone is estimated to be about R400 000.
DAGGA to the value of R400 000 was seized in Port Shepstone on Saturday.
Officers from the Port Shepstone 10111 call centre response unit, assisted by Warrant Officer Abraham Sonnekus from the Organised Crime Unit in Port Shepstone, stopped a suspicious vehicle which was en route from the Eastern Cape to Durban on the R102.
They were joined by two officers from a local security company as well as officers from the Port Shepstone K9 unit.
“Four occupants, three women and a man all in their 30s, were arrested,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
The vehicle was loaded with numerous parcels found to contain dagga weighing 144 kg.
The suspects will be appearing in the Port Shepstone Magistrates’s Court today (Monday).
The vehicle was impounded.
