Manaba women raped, assaulted and robbed

The suspect used a screwdriver and a knife to threatened the women.

TWO women were raped and another assaulted in Manaba  last week.

“On Monday Margate police responded to a complaint of house robbery and rape,” said police spokesman, Captain Gerald Mfeka.

“They found the main door of the house open and three victims aged between 23 and 25 years inside the house. One of them had been assaulted and he other two raped. The suspect used a screwdriver and a knife to threatened the women and then fled with their belongings.”

On Wednesday, Sergeant Senzo Mlambo, Sgt Mduduzi Mpofana, Sgt Michelle van Niekerk, Sgt Thandeyakhe Gumede, Constable Sandile Xolo, Cst Ndumiso Nzimakwe and Cst Nkanyiso Lushaba, acted on information received and arrested the suspect.

 

* A man wanted by Margate SAPS in connection with a rape case in December has  been arrested and is behind bars.

On Wednesday last week Margate detectives acted on information received and arrested the 24-year- old man at Masinenge informal settlement.

On December 6, a 68-year-old woman was at her home in Manaba, when she heard her dogs barking. She went out to investigate and came across an intruder.

He forced her into the bedroom where he raped her. After the ordeal he tied up the victim and locked her inside the bathroom and fled with some of her property.
A case of house robbery and rape was opened and investigated by Margate detectives.
