Bar brawl leads to arrests

A scuffle broke out in the men's toilet.

A WELL-KNOWN businessman from Shelly Beach suffered an open wound to the forehead when he was allegedly assaulted with a cricket bat at a popular sports pub in Uvongo last Saturday.

Police spokesman, Captain Gerald Mfeka said the businessman (52) was with his wife and another couple at a pub at about 6pm.

“When the businessman’s friend visited the men’s toilet, a scuffle broke out between him and two other men. When the businessman went to his friend’s assistance, he felt a blow to his head, opening a wound on his forehead.  It is believed that he might have been hit with a cricket bat.”

Two men have been arrested and appeared in the Ramsgate Court yesterday (Wednesday). The case was postponed for further investigation.
