Gang arrested for Harding farm robbery
They began to kick him and demanded money.
POLICE have arrested three of the four men thought to be linked to an armed robbery on a farm in Harding on Wednesday this week.
A man (54) went home to collect money to take to the bank for deposit.
He saw two men and when he asked what they wanted, the men drew firearms pushed him to the ground.
They began to kick him and demanded money.
They then fled, taking two cellphones and an undisclosed sum of money.
The man managed to contact Harding police, and chased after the robbers in his vehicle but was unable to track them down.
Later that day, Harding police arrested one of the suspects, a 31-year-old man and seized a toy gun from him.
The other suspect fled with the money and is still at large.
Police spokesman, Captain Gerald Mfeka, said at about 8pm that night, police from Harding spotted the white Toyota Corolla in the Harding CBD. “After giving chase they managed to stop and search the vehicle and the two occupants,” he said.
Two firearms with the serial numbers filed off were found.
It was also established that one of the suspects was out on bail for an armed robbery carried out in Pietermaritzburg in February last year.
Both were arrested and detained and the car was impounded.
