Uvongo crime still down
There are concerns about criminals using empty buildings as bolt-holes.
GOOD news for Uvongo residents is that the downward trend in housebreak incidents experienced during the last two months of 2016 has continued during the first month of this year.
Last week Uvongo Community Safety Forum members said they were confident there would be less than 20 of these crimes reported in their town by the end of January. According to chairman Ernest Booysen recent arrests in Uvongo appeared to have either removed or driven away the criminals. He expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in the continued fight against crime.

The forum still believed there could be criminals living in empty buildings or even house-sitting holiday homes. Mr Booysen asked all residents to report concerns about properties from where dubious characters could be carrying out illegal activities and to where they could be retreating after committing crimes, before officers of the law arrived at the scene.
