UMZINTO residents who informed police of a drug dealer operating in the area on Monday, January 30 might be feeling a bit disappointed, this after he was arrested and released back into the public on Tuesday, January 31 where he will undoubtedly resume his deadly work.
Acting on information received from the community, members of the Public Order Policing Unit arrested the drug dealer in Riverside Park, Umzinto, where he was found to be in possession of 45 capsules of heroin – also known as Whoonga.
The drugs seized have an estimated street value of R1 805 and are now also distributed in capsule form.
He has been charged for dealing in drugs, said Port Shepstone SAPS communications officer, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
The suspect appeared in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, January 31.
He was released on bail of R4 000.
Cluster Commander, Major General Sethenya Nxamagele has welcomed the arrest.
She thanked the community members for coming forward with information which led to the successful arrest of the drug dealer.
