Police shoot knife-wielding suspect
A helicopter was used to take the wounded man to hospital.

AN armed robber has died in a shootout with police after a business robbery at Bomela, near Paddock yesterday (Thursday).
Police spokesman, Captain Gerald Mfeka said at about 1pm police responded to a business robbery were a tuck shop owner had been held up by three armed men.
“The men fled taking cash and cellphones. When police arrived community members pointed out the suspects. Police confronted one of the robbers who was armed with a knife. When he was ordered to drop the weapon he refused and attacked one of the policemen who then shot the man, ” said Captain Mfeka.

Paramedics from KZN EMS responded with a helicopter due to the inaccessibility of the area.
The man (30) from Bomela was airlifted to Port Shepstone Regional Hospital were he later died.
An investigation into the shooting will be conducted by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate .
Police have yet to arrest the remaining two suspects.
