UPDATE: Scottburgh woman drugged, boyfriend abducted in kidnap mystery
He told his girlfriend the kidnappers were demanding a ransom of R300 000 to ensure his release.
MYSTERY still surrounds the alleged kidnapping of a Scottburgh man for a ransom of R300 000. He was found on Valentine’s Day, abandoned in Tembisa, Johannesburg.
It is claimed that a 29-year-old Scottburgh woman was at her Sandhurst flat in Williamson Street when three kidnappers walked in through the open door.
At gunpoint, the woman was ordered to drink a glass of cold drink which was said to have been spiked with drugs.
She was then tied up and lost consciousness.
When she woke up, she discovered that her boyfriend was missing and that two vehicles, clothing, a cellphone, laptop and other property belonging to her boyfriend had disappeared.

The following morning at around 8am, a call was received from the woman’s boyfriend.
He told her his kidnappers were demanding a ransom of R300 000 to ensure his release.
Further instructions would have been provided later in the day. He also said that he was being held captive somewhere in Gauteng.
“No further calls were received and the investigating officer requested the intervention of the National Intervention Unit,” said Scottburgh SAPS communications officer, Captain Vincent Pandarum.

The man was then released on Valentine’s Day.
NINU investigators interviewed him and now the case has been referred back to the Scottburgh Cluster Detective Task Team.
