She kept her head, remaining as calm as possible throughout the terrifying ordeal, and, in spite of the risk of being traumatised by reliving the horror of the home invasion, she decided to tell the South Coast Herald her story.
“People need to know about these incidents,” she explained.
Raeesa was in the house with her 73-year-old grandmother and a domestic worker on the day of the attack. At about 11am, two men, one armed with a gun, managed to force their way in.
Raeesa heard a door slam and next thing she knew a strange man was holding a gun to her head and demanding money.
The men gagged her then tied up the three women. They helped themselves to a laptop computer, an iPad and a cellphone then demanded money.

Raeesa handed over about R1 000 in cash, all the money that was in the house, but they were not satisfied.
They began to ransack the house, at the same time assaulting her and demanding more money. At one stage she lost consciousness after they had hit her with the butt of their gun but they roused her with vicious kicks and punches and forced her to continue to help them search the house for valuables.
They also threatened to injure her ears and hands with a pair of pliers.
After entering the room where her grandmother was tied up, the men held a knife to the older woman’s throat and Raeesa hastily found a gold watch and handed it over to her assailants to placate them.
The situation seemed to be deteriorating and Raeesa was becoming more and more afraid when one of the men accidentally touched a panic button and set it off.

The robbers immediately fled with the money, watch and electronic goods and within minutes Lazer 911 security officers were at the house, followed soon after by members of the SAPS.
Raeesa was by then in great pain and was severely traumatised so she was extremely grateful when her rescuers arrived.
Lazer 911 staff even escorted her to hospital where she was admitted and treated for internal bleeding.
Fortunately she did not suffer extensive injuries and was discharged two days later.
She and her family thank Lazer 911 security officers for their swift response, efficiency and kindness and also thank the police officers for their efficient response.
A 23-year-old man was arrested at the Port Shepstone taxi rank yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon in connection with the attack.
According to police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid, Detective Warrant Officer Lami Mjweni is continuing with the investigation.
