Fake bank notes found in safe abandoned on Harding pavement

The notes were wrapped in tin foil and put inside a safe.

A CHIEF traffic officer based at Umuziwabantu Municipality contacted Harding SAPS, asking for assistance after he found a safe on Tuesday last week.

The small safe was found on the pavement near his offices. Police from Harding responded and cordoned off the immediate area.

A police bomb disposal expert and an explosives sniffer dog were also summoned and the digital safe was closely examined.

“The safe was then taken for further investigation and when it was opened numerous fake R100 notes were found inside,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
