POLICE have warned residents, and especially the elderly, to be vigilant when alone at home.
This warning comes after a 73-year-old woman was attacked at her home in Pumula last week Sunday.
It is believed that the woman was in the garden when she decided to go into the house.
“She had closed the kitchen door but did not lock it. As she was about to run a bath, a man, grabbed her and tied her hands with a shoelace,” said police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
The intruder then asked where the safe was and also took a television, laptop and a cellphone before he fled.
The woman sustained bruises to her face, neck and wrists. The intruder was wearing a black hoodie.
