Three arrested for alleged beating man to death in Port Shepstone

The body of the man was found with multiple wounds, similar to have been caused by beating with a sjambok.

THREE men, aged 27, 35 and 40 have been arrested for the murder of a 21-year-old man who was allegedly assaulted by community members at Betania, Port Shepstone on Saturday, April 22.

Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid, said that members from the POP project team in Port Shepstone last Thursday arrested the suspects in Betania.

They will be charged for murder and will appear in court soon.

Lt-Col Wiid, said that the same members also arrested a 30-year-old foreigner in Watterson street, Marburg, Port Shepstone for being in possession of a large quantity of fake cigarettes to the value of R78600.

He will be charged for being in possession of counterfeit goods and appear in court soon.
