‘Jack Hammer’ musician recovering after falling from stage during peformance in Margate

Piet Botha sufffered a dizzy spell, but is recovering well.

VETERAN rock musician Piet Botha is recovering well after sustaining a back injury in Margate during the South Coast Bike Fest last weekend.

Piet was on stage performing to an appreciative crowd with his band, Jack Hammer, when he suddenly felt dizzy and fell off the stage. He was stabilised and taken to Netcare Margate Hospital.

“Piet is confident he is in good hands and is full of praise for the hospital where he says he is receiving excellent treatment,” said bike fest organiser Vicky Wentzel.

According to his fellow band members, the musician is to undergo surgery soon but they are confident he will soon be up and playing with them again.

Unfortunately the band has had to head to Mozambique where it is booked for a gig but Piet’s daughter Robyn is arriving in Margate soon to be with her father.

Piet’s musical career spans more than 40 years and he is a much loved members of the South African entertainment industry.

He and his Jack Hammer band were so well received by the bike fest crowd before the accident happened that Vicky has booked them to open the musical programme at the 2018 festival.
