Community members can now access basic needs without crossing a dangerous river on foot.

This after Ray Nkonyeni Municipality handed over a bridge worth over R3-million to community members on Tuesday this week.

As there were initially challenges with constructing the bridge, changes had to be made and the project took eight months to complete.

According to the municipality’s spokesman, Simon April, the construction of the low level bridge included concrete wing walls, gabion retaining structures, guardrails, road signs and the laying of stormwater pipes.

Community members said they were extremely happy about the the bridge as it would make access to basic necessities much easier for them.
