UPDATE: Calls for ‘chemical castration’ of Pennington man who sexually assaulted neighbour’s daughter (6)

The man’s bail was extended pending his next court appearance.

UPDATE, May 24:

IN SPITE of many locals insisting we ‘name and shame’ a 64-year-old Pennington paedophile, the court has ruled against us doing so to protect the victim.

Some are so angry that they have even called for the ‘chemical castration’ of the man who appeared in the Scottburgh Regional Court on Monday morning, May 22.

He was convicted on charges of sexual assault as well as the unlawful possession of dagga and is due to appear in court again in July.

The case has been postponed to July 3 for sentencing. The man’s bail was extended pending his next appearance.

ORIGINAL STORY: May 10

A PENNINGTON man (64) has appeared in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court,  facing charges of sexual assault.

The man is accused of inappropriately touching his neighbour’s six-year-old child in August last year.

It is believed that the child and her mother went to return something borrowed from the man.

The man and his partner then returned home with the mother and daughter, staying for a while before leaving.

Some time passed and the child’s mother noticed that something was amiss.

“The child informed her mother that the neighbour had touched her inappropriately and she did not like that at all,” said Scottburgh SAPS communications officer, Captain Vincent Pandarum.

The mother immediately reported the incident to the Scottburgh SAPS and a case of sexual assault was opened for investigation.
