The usual drug users and distributers, assault and theft cases were dealt with in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court last week:
- A man appeared for assault. It is believed that he had assaulted another man in the Umzinto district by throwing beer cans at him.He was released on warning and the case was postponed to March 27.

- A young man, who claims to be a grade 11 pupil, was in court for theft. It appears that he had stolen three litres of grass cutter oil worth just over R200. The case was postponed to March 27,and he was instructed to produce a letter from his school principal stating that he is, in fact, a pupil there. He was released on warning.

- A man who was found in possession of 76 grams of dagg in V-Section, Umkomaas. As he was a first time offender and pleaded guilty to the charge, he was sentenced to a fine of R2 000 or face three months’ imprisonment, suspended for five years.
